This is Dialga, the Virtuvian Time King. The whole thing came from the idea of doing something different with Dialga and making him look important, and showing it relating to time. I wanted to base the whole image off of Da Vinci's famous Virtuvian Man, except place him on a cosmic-looking clock instead of just a circle. Somewhere along the line, I decided to make the clock an 'O' unown, so that's what the background is.

You might notice that the anatomy in the line work is a little bit wavier and less smooth than my usual work. I tried to follow Da Vinci's anatomy pretty exactly in this piece, though I never gave myself the luxury of tracing. I still wanted to make Dialga a little more built, showing that he's supposed to be something a little bit more than 'normal'. One of the fun things about working in layers in photoshop is that you can put in a lot of detail that completely disappears in the finished project that no one can see, and that's the case here. I tried to paint out pretty much all of the muscle groups on Dialga's body, purely for practice... kindof a shame they're hidden behind that armor and the diamond lines...

Speaking of the diamond lines, those were a lot of fun to do. At first I was just going to make them flat, glowy lines, but in the trailers for Diamond and Pearl they actually sparkled, so I just had to go in and make them all crystal-y. Then I went the next step overboard and gave them the little sparkles... I'm pretty glad I did. >_>
